While the weather is still warm enough why not try Michael Stars' Black Lace Tights under a tulip skirt and patterned shirt with some flats and a light-weight jacket. I seriously had to do a double take when looking at Paris Hilton wearing this adorable Lauren Moshi Swing Bow Tee! This might be one of the classiest looks I've seen her sporting!

I love how the texture of her purse plays off the striped sketch from her shirt. So pretty and subtle!

Summer: All About Tunics

With the perfect length, fit, and feel, tunics are the easy breezy trend of the season. With leggings, skinny jeans, shorts, or possibly on their own if long enough, tunics of all styles and colors are a must for summer. The classic white, lightweight cotton Evie Tunic from La Made is a timeless essential. Also try the Splendid Clothing Modal Lycra Legging in Black.
For a casual summertime look, pair with gladiator sandals or fun flats (and the outfit easily converts to winter attire with boots when the time comes).
On the other end of the spectrum we have the perfect dressier tun
ic from Velvet Tees: The Ira Tunic Top in Black. This boho top is a stand-out evening choice!

Young Hollywood has a new all-liquid diet - liquid leggings that is. A-listers like Mary Kate Olsen, Nicky Hilton, Lauren Conrad, and Katie Holmes have all been seen rocking this the edgy winter trend of glossed over versions of the traditional style.

Both pop princess Miley Cyrus and Rihanna are pictured above wearing two different facets of the versatile trend. Shop liquid leggings at UrbanMinx to find your look!

Love Your Leggings

For some women leggings are never a style option, but sometimes just knowing how to wear leggings makes all the difference between looking chic versus looking like an unfortunate fashion throwback.

If you like the ease of leggings, but want to make sure you always wear them appropriately, consider these tips:

  • The simplest way for women to wear leggings is beneath a tunic. Tunics vary in length, so it's important that your tunic is long enough to cover your hips and behind. Your tunic top can be in sweater form or knit jersey material. If you're feeling a bit busty, a belt will work to balance your frame.
  • Petite women should take care to make sure your top doesn't fall past your mid-thighs – anything longer will have you looking outsized. More monochromatic choices will help to elongate your frame.
  • Tall women run the risk of wearing tops too short. Note that your be-legginged bum should not be exposed in any way.
  • Leggings look best with flats or plain pumps, but ankle booties will give you a bit of attitude.
  • Because leggings are so fitted, it's best to steer clear of tight shirts for the best look. These items work better when your overall outfit is balanced, pairing roomy with fitted.
  • Dresses that fall at or above the knee can work with leggings. This is one case where a close-fitting dress would look good with leggings, such as a jersey knit dress with a wide belt at the waist.
  • Always remember that your leggings are an accessory - not an outfit. Build your preferred outfit first, and add leggings after. Your leggings' color should match something else in your outfit for the most harmonious pairing.

Getting a Leg Up

The bad rep attached to leggings most likely comes from those who have misused the trend. We've all seen leggings paired with too-short tops and the assumption that leggings are an acceptable replacement for pants.

While leggings are a chic, sleek alternative to leg coverage, they have to be worn right. Conducting a simple test will tell you if you've taken the trend too far: Assemble your ensemble (leggings included) and stand in front of the mirror. Okay, now take those leggings off and look again. Feeling exposed? If that's the case you're going to need a little more coverage.

For best results, stick with sweaters and tunics no shorter than a mini skirt might stretch. Alternatively, a too-long cover might curb the length of your legs unattractively.

The last thing to remember is have fun with it - you've got an endless selection of every style, shade, and texture imaginable lining up the legging market. Whenever given the option, go bold.
