Wonderful Things Afoot!

Day after day the shoes are rolling in here at Urban Minx and there are so many fabulous ones! I wanted to choose just a few to highlight...my absolute favorite is the Charles by Charles David Pounce Bootie in Black (below). It is so elegant and fierce all in one. An absolute must for a stylish, confident woman who is on trend.

For lovers of Australia Luxe Collective we've got new arrivals and some of their most popular styles with celebrities like Jessica Alba and Megan Fox. Check out the Australia Luxe Collective Bedouin Boot in Charcoal or Black that are so hip and cozy.

Sergio Zelcer Winger Pump in Taupe and Black is an amazing, cool heel with elegant lines. Perfect for elongating your legs, you can wear them with everything. It's the perfect shoe for any outfit.

We're ecstatic to finally be carrying Michael Kors! Our first arrival is the Michael Kors Veronica Waxy Suede Boot in Black. Seriously cool whether you are a fashionista who watches Project Runway or a cool, edgy woman who bucks the normal fashion trends. Truly a style that stands on its own.

Hi/Lo: On the Fringe

The spring trends are beginning to show up downright bohemian with fringe and flowers filling the glossies til they're fit to burst! We're loving the former, especially in these lovely fringed boots.

With the Louboutins on the left you get the lush texture of fringe and lofty stiletto height, but you get the same with the Sergio Zelcers on the right. The only difference? A price tag weighty enough to have you wading through debt for months. Shop smart and opt for the Sergios. Your progeny and their college fund will thank you.

What to Wear: The Dinner Date

If you're like me, you'll no small amount of time making sure your outfit is just right for a special night out (whether it's with a new beau or a tried and true love).

Of course every style differs when considering both the occasion and the individual, but hopefully this example above will provide a basis that you can build on to create your own personal look.

I picture the Shadow Roses Dress from Kensie a perfect medium for a date dress. It toes the line between sophisticated and sexy, and the sultry floral print is fun with a hint of mystery. What's more - it's not the sort of dress where you'll have to mindfully avoid flashing your bits to the public every time you bend over, thus allowing you to put full focus on your date.

Statement shoes are a big 'do' this season, and these Sergio Zelcer Pumps absolutely stand out. The patent has been polished to a high gloss (with a mirror-like shine at the heel) and the rounded toe combined with a kitten heel looks positively coquettish. These pumps are ultra comfortable too, so if your plans include dancing the night away you can do it without worrying about a heel hangover the next day.

Since your next dinner date is bound to be in celebration of V-Day, you just might be getting something glittery to go around your neck, but for now you'll just have to fall in love with Nashelle's Silver Swank Necklace. It features a garnet stone which matchess the Shadow Roses print almost perfectly, plus the dusky blush of the stone inspires such lovely thoughts of romance.

And finally, and girl who insists on carrying a bag only big enough to fit a lipstick tube is not thinking sensibly. Sure, it's cute, but it's no good for carrying those little essentials like mints, gloss, and even a tiny sewing kit in case one of your buttons jumps ship. Opt instead for a medium small bag like the Juicy Couture Easy Rider. It's compact but filled with handy little compartments to keep you organized.

Tough Love: Edgy Looks We Adore

We're loving the edgy turn trends have been taking this winter. While the traditional rich, dark shades remain a constant, designers are now adding all sorts of fractious fun to new designs.

Last winter was a bit heavy handed when it came to laying on the couture angst to the point of totalitarian extremes. This season sees a softer side which incorporates lace and luster to complement leather and studs.

Shop the latest Tough Love trend at UrbanMinx with ferociously flirty styles from popular brands like Bailey 44, Juicy Couture, Rock & Republic, and Sergio Zelcer!

Ask Elyse: Cocktail with Class

Dear Elyse,

I plan on attending a holiday party at my office this year, but I'm not quite sure how to dress for the semi-formal event while still looking professional. Any ideas?

-Charlotte

Dear Charlotte,

I'm glad you asked. A lot of women make the mistake of overdoing it (in either direction) when it comes to office functions. Of course you'll want to save the sex appeal for a less professional setting, but dressing like you would on a normal work day isn't any fun either.

I suggest you draw the line right down the middle - aim for a cute cocktail dress with a moderate cut and an embellished cardigan as covering. The look is feminine and approachable while still maintaining a professional air. Keep your shoes classy, with perhaps a patent finish for that something extra.

Hope this helps,
Elyse
