I'd like to work the recent rhinestone / sequin trend into my wardrobe but I'm not sure how to do it without looking a little tacky. Any tips?

The thing to always remember when it comes to accents like sequins and rhinestones is that they are accents. If you want something a bit sparkly as a focal point in your ensemble then I suggest some glitzy statement jewelry, but when it comes to clothing always make sure that you choose items that are only complemented by bling rather than dominated.

I just bought the Vavavoom Sky dress and its too cold to wear it alone just yet. Would it be fashion savvy to wear a back t-shirt under it until warmer weather?

The Vavavoom is piece I'd want to wear right away too, but I think a tee with the wrong collar and composition might clash with the dress.

If you're going to opt for a tee I suggest wearing one with a neckline cut like and close to the same level of the top of the dress, with middling sleeves for the best balance. Also, if the fabric of the tee is too heavy it will look mismatched, so I recommend finding a tee with a similar spandex blend.

Instead of layering under you might try wearing a simple draped cardigan or cropped sweater over the dress - you'll be able to adjust to temperature changes with greater ease and it will give you a more cohesive look.

Trend Alert: Way Out West

One of the key trends showing up in summer lines is that of the feminine west - think printed blouses in soft tones, rugged denim, and natural looking leathers. We've recreated this homegrown look for those of you craving it as much as we are.

Start with a blue denim with strategically placed distressing. The idea is for your jeans to look well loved, not worn out. Red Engine's Boyfriend Jean in Cured should do the trick. Some shorts can inspire some pretty cringe-worthy styles but these particular shorties are pure class and even offer a little wiggle room as far as what you can wear them with.

If you look at this Anna Sui ensemble or this Tommy Hilfiger version you'll see that the big spring trend is to go a little baggy up top. The shorts' fit will have a slender enough fit that you won't feel like you're swimming in fabric and looser cuts are always more forgiving to the female figure.

For a more collegiate air, choose something colorful and cropped close to your frame. This way you can tuck the top in for a cleaner lines. To avoid looking too buttoned-up, try layering it with a draped cardigan.

As far as colours go, that linen white will match with just about anything. Don't be afraid to mix and match!
