In the Press: Tulle

We adore Tulle jackets and coats. They have lovely styles, pretty linings, modern colors and a good attention to details. The Tulle Ruffle Double Breasted Jacket in Eggplant was spotted in Life & Style magazine under their Style News section "Ladylike." It is a beautiful jacket with sweet ruffled trim and cool bronze buttons. And right now it is 40% off the original price. What's not to love? If Eggplant isn't your color we've also got a more muted Birch version. Check out all the Tulle on sale now at urbanminx.com!

Plaid Ahead

Fall is coming up quicker than we know and what better way to kick off the season than the plaid trend? Stray from the solid pea coat and get cozy with more subtle tones like Lauren Conrad, or even bright plaids. We are completely mad about plaid this autumn and the traditional pattern will look sleek and fashion conscious season after season. Check out one of our favs from Tulle: The Detachable Hood Coat in Black. Plaid isn't just for lumberjacks anymore!

Plaid Style

Check out these celebs in the casual go-to style of the season, plaid. Paired with skinny jeans and flats, this urban meets country look is the perfect balance of trendy and effortless. Nicky Hilton, Jessica Szohr, and Lauren Conrad are all about plaids this season. Our favorite right now is the Big Gingham Shirt from Kensie!

Highly Waisted

In the past few years we've seen a return of the high waist skirt and trouser- a look many are on the fence about. But when thoughtfully paired with the right top, shoes (maybe simple flats), and accessories, this look is not just a blast from the past, but a fashion forward statement that will surely catch eyes. Try a simple tank, like Lauren Conrad, if you are sporting a bold color. For simpler high waisted pieces, like the Shelby Tulip Skirt in Black from Michael Stars, go for a fun blouse and statement jewelry.
Tell us your thoughts on the high waisted look!

Perfect Plaid

We're loving this fall fashion worn by Hills starlet Lauren Conrad. Urban cowgirl all the way, Lauren has been seen about town in a signature set of dark skinnies paired with a plaid top in a feminine cut. An oversize bag and sky high heels add that hint of Hollywood.

Shop plaids, pumps, and skinny denim at UrbanMinx to catch Lauren's perfect fall look.

The Alternative Tee

Alternative Apparel has been challenging the concepts of fashion since 1996. In the beginning, Alternative founder and creative designer Greg Alterman sold his t-shirt designs out of his car. His passion for designing the perfect t-shirt has since grown into one of today’s hottest apparel brands, boasting an impressive list of celebrity fans which includes Angelina Jolie, Audrina Patridge, and Lauren Conrad.

Alternative has always made a commitment to raise the t-shirt above its traditional status as a casual staple. Specializing in styles that carry the look of well-loved vintage, they have mastered the art of casual chic, thus moving the t-shirt to the center of a fashion-forward wardrobe.

Alternative Apparel’s most popular piece so far has proven to be their Burnout Crew Tee in White, pictured here on Twilight's Kristen Stewart and Mandy Moore. This burnout basic has also been spotted on famous faces like Christina Aguilera, Megan Fox, and Rachel Bilson. Capture Kristen's look with the addition of a sharp-looking vest or go your own way. The possibilities are endless!

Tip to Toe Trend

I’m of the firm belief that just because a dress is long and covers your stems, doesn't mean it can't be sexy. After all, leaving something to the imagination can be awfully alluring, which is why I love the burgeoning maxi dress trend this season has been enjoying.

It’s no wonder that celebs like Lauren Conrad, Christina Aguilera, Paris Hilton, and Hayden Panettiere have all been spotted rockin’ maxi dresses. These dresses are simple and easy to throw on. The airy skirt still keeps you cool and they provide better protection from UV rays as an added bonus. I have to admit it’s quite refreshing to see a trend deviating from the high-exposure minis, short shorts and curve-hugging leggings normally seen when warmer weather hits.

Though maxis are pretty uniform in length, the style possibilities are endless. You can choose a simple style and accessorize to the nines, or pick a bold print to stand on its own. Brand new at UrbanMinx is the Rainforest Silk Halter Maxi Dress from Hale Bob - a favorite of Paris Hilton. The floral Remi Dress from Sky Tops is simply garden party perfect and Lotta Stenson's Drawstring Dress is all-over bold.

Putting the Art Back Into Design

Lauren Moshi design and clothing is the hottest thing to hit Hollywood this year, and with good reason: the brand offers wholly unique and imaginative tops, tanks, tees, and hoodies, each painstakingly hand-drawn by artist Lauren Moshi and printed on exquisite fabrics.

Lauren Conrad was seen in this Burnout Skull Rose Tank by Lauren Moshi while out with her friends to film a new episode of The Hills in Los Angeles this fall, and has also been spotted in the Black Peace Tank and Elephant Tank Top – a fine example of the addictive properties of these one-of-a-kind designs.

UrbanMinx has latest wearable art from Miss Moshi. Click here to enjoy it practically fresh from the sketchpad.

Stars on the Rise

Fashion and function don’t always coincide - from sky high stilettos that only allow you to sit pretty, to that much too mini dress in which it’s inappropriate to sit at all. Yet there’s one name which still provides fashion forward pieces with functionality woven into their very fabric!

Boasting a long list of celebrity fandom, Michael Stars has been seen on the likes of Vanessa Hudgens, Gisele Bundchen, Audrina Patridge, and Lauren Conrad, as well as having been featured in recent editions of Self Magazine, Genlux, and Elle.

Recognizing the potential of the humble T-shirt, Michael Stars has been a continual pioneer in creating “casual couture” since its founding in 1986. The Los Angeles based, family-run company remains a leader in the women’s contemporary market, distinguished by its contoured fit, unique colors and comfortable fabrics.

Michael Stars’ simple and flattering designs make it a breeze to create your own layered look, yet carry enough personality to wear on their own. Pick up a few pieces and begin your experimentations right away!
