In the Press: Tulle

We adore Tulle jackets and coats. They have lovely styles, pretty linings, modern colors and a good attention to details. The Tulle Ruffle Double Breasted Jacket in Eggplant was spotted in Life & Style magazine under their Style News section "Ladylike." It is a beautiful jacket with sweet ruffled trim and cool bronze buttons. And right now it is 40% off the original price. What's not to love? If Eggplant isn't your color we've also got a more muted Birch version. Check out all the Tulle on sale now at urbanminx.com!

Hi Lo: Balenciaga & Tulle

I have always loved Balenciaga. Amazing, beautiful designs season after season.

Their pre-fall 2011 collection was framed by a floral wallpaper that with some of the floral styles reminded me of the scene from Garden State where Zach Braff stands in front of the bathroom mirror looking at himself in a floral print shirt that matches the wall behind him and nearly disappears.

I love the bright plum purple Balenciaga coat pictured here and was happy to discover that we have a very similar version by Tulle, the Vintage Wool Peacoat in Loganberry which is now on sale for just $55.

Such a great low price to be able to get the Balenciaga look! Shop Tulle and more now at urbanminx.com

Double Button, Double Fun!

With cold weather coming around the corner, it's important for a Minx to have her closet well stocked with cute jackets, so that's where the outerwear section comes in handy! The must-have for the Fall and Winter season is double-breasted jackets, a style that's classic, cute and especially warm. If you're looking for a more utilitarian jacket then the Faded Modern Magic Jacket in Dark Grey by Kensie is a good option. If you want something more flirty then the Ruffle Double Breasted Jacket in Eggplant by Tulle would look great with skinny jeans and boots. If a twist on a classic is what you're into then the Double Vin Coat in Hibiscus by Tulle will heat things up in any weather. Check out tons of other styles and colors of the double-breasted coat and jacket at UrbanMinx.com!

Find Your Perfect Coat

Contrary to how you might feel, cold weather clothing doesn't have to mean hiding your figure in boxy, shapeless coats and jackets and thanks to Tulle we can all be excited about the snowy months! Keep these tips in mind when purchasing your next autumn/winter coat:

1. Curvy? Try a straight belted style or a wrap and avoid embellishments around the bust and hips. Perhaps the lovely Single Vin Wool Coat in Peapod from Tulle?

2. Have a boyish shape? Go for something with volume, embellishment in the bust, exaggerated shoulders, and opt for pockets and bold details. Try the Tulle Double Breasted Jacket in Birch.

3. Bigger in the bust? Search for a coat with a narrow V neck shape and avoid anything double breasted. You want to create a vertical line. The Tulle Textured Wool Blazer in Hollyhock is perfect AND it's on sale!!
4. If you have a small bust go for something double breasted with some detailing up top. Also search for fitted and nipped at the waist to create some curve. Avoid boxy, square shapes. Try the Tulle Long Double Breasted Peacoat in Creme (also on sale now!).

Plaid Ahead

Fall is coming up quicker than we know and what better way to kick off the season than the plaid trend? Stray from the solid pea coat and get cozy with more subtle tones like Lauren Conrad, or even bright plaids. We are completely mad about plaid this autumn and the traditional pattern will look sleek and fashion conscious season after season. Check out one of our favs from Tulle: The Detachable Hood Coat in Black. Plaid isn't just for lumberjacks anymore!

Cardigan Style

The perfect light weight piece to throw in your bag for unexpected chilly nights, cardigans will keep you cozy and cute all through autumn. Versatile and chic, wear all your summer tanks into fall with a simple cardigan, skinny jeans, and flats.
More flattering and less bulky than a pull over hoodie or zip jacket, cardigans in any color are the way to go. A couple personal favorites: The Heathered Cardigan in Slate from Tulle and The Striped Military Cardigan in Heather and Black from Juicy Couture.

Check out Katie Holmes and Ann Hathaway in one of our favorite styles- relaxed, but fashion conscious. What better piece for this style than a cardigan?

Staff Pick: Beyond the Pale

Bend Minx Julie has an eye for the crisper face of spring fashions, which is why she show such enthusiasm for this creamy Double Breasted Coat from Tulle. Tulle has pea coats down to a tee, featuring cuts that flatter every feminine facet. Tulle's Long Double Breasted Pea Coat is particularly posh with tonal buttons and a playful peter pan collar.

Julie loves the coat for the easy-to-match, clean linen colour and the slenderizing effect it has on her silhouette.

Proof is in the Pattern

In stark and welcome contrast to last winter's washed out whites and edgy, minimalist darks, this coming season's styles are an absolute roar of colour. Reminiscent of whichever eras you might attach the world 'golden,' the runways have turned flashy with a flood of pattern-rich shades.

More noticeable is the shift from the simple classic coat to its bright new cousin - detailed with anything from pretty lemon plaids to modish spots. A personal favorite is the flashback coat, cut in a relaxed vintage fit and printed in posh 60s shades.

If high-saturation hues don't tickle your fancy, the more traditional monochromes remain with a bit of a twist. For an updated look try a fun lined look or some high society houndstooth.

A Taste for Tulle

Tulle is a word no longer limited to that gauzy stuff that goes under prom dresses. This is a line of clothing that hits the perfect mid-range between falling apart after twelve months and ridiculously, rent priced expensive.

Though they carry a full line of clothing, it's Tulle's coats that really have me checking my closet to see if there's any room left. I know it is only September and no one wants to think about the chill months of fall and winter, but we at UrbanMinx have been anticipating our first shipment of beautiful Tulle Coats, and they just arrived!

Bright colors and classic shapes that include lots of 1950s peter pan collars, a-line cuts, and bracelet sleeves in rich autumn hues (think ash, tomato, crème, and moss) make for a truly wonderful look. Even better, the prices are in the $80-$150.00 range. The only drawback is you'll have to shop elsewhere if you're looking for tutus.

Pea Coat Paradise

Every era has its fashion classics, yet few have proved as versatile as the pea coat. The pea coat has graced movie screens, catwalks and wardrobes, lending us a luxe respectability. Adapted by designers and adopted by fashion gurus, the women's pea coat has taken many a modern twist since its time in the trenches and is akin to a second skin for the style-conscious.

Nothing dresses up an outfit like a well-chosen coat. It's a statement piece that adds cohesion and personality. This season's coats promise to inject a high degree of elegance, instantly updating any wardrobe with a balance of cutting edge and vintage charm. While the traditional pea coat will always offer dependable stability with its goes-with-everything approach, this season's coats enjoy a little bit more drama in sporting vibrant jewel colors alongside the tried and true (but certainly not tired) hues of black, khaki, and slate.

The up and coming fall styles are also decidedly feminine, with elegant details that draw their inspiration more from 1940s Hollywood glam than dirty trenches (think Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's). The sexy silhouette is back, complete with ruffles and full skirts. These coats are mature, but far from being conservative, they incorporate modern touches to keep them fresh and whimsical.

Dress it up, tone it down, cinch it at the waist, or wear it to bare a favorite blouse and trousers; the trusted women’s pea coat is what we have consistently relied on to pull an outfit up from the depths of dull despair and into the world of fashionista bliss, making it must-have for any winter wardrobe.

Rachel Bilson Loves Tulle Trenchcoats

Rachel Bilson proves that outerwear doesn’t always have to be dark! The fashionista brightened up her wardrobe with the Honeycomb trench by Tulle while filming a scene for her new movie, New York, I Love You. The film is an anthology joining several love stories set in New York. Set to be released in 2009, the film features other sultry stars such as Orlando Bloom, Natalie Portman, and Hayden Christensen. The Honeycomb trench was an outerwear favorite this spring, we can't wait for new Tulle arrivals!
