Cardigan Style

The perfect light weight piece to throw in your bag for unexpected chilly nights, cardigans will keep you cozy and cute all through autumn. Versatile and chic, wear all your summer tanks into fall with a simple cardigan, skinny jeans, and flats.
More flattering and less bulky than a pull over hoodie or zip jacket, cardigans in any color are the way to go. A couple personal favorites: The Heathered Cardigan in Slate from Tulle and The Striped Military Cardigan in Heather and Black from Juicy Couture.

Check out Katie Holmes and Ann Hathaway in one of our favorite styles- relaxed, but fashion conscious. What better piece for this style than a cardigan?

Minx Muse: Emma Watson

Actress Emma Watson has grown from gawky teen to gorgeous style icon overnight and we're loving every look that she puts out.

The Harry Potter starlet has been seen at the frontlines of many a runway show and seems to be taking all the right notes.

Though her street style is certainly nothing to scoff at, we've turned our attention to this Teen Vogue shoot.

The jewel tone of Emma's a-line dress simply pops, especially against the pale contrast of her cardigan.

Not much is seen of her shoes, but the drama of the shot lives on in Emma's layered statement necklace.

First Lady's Cardinal Rule

Michelle Obama's evolving style has the entire world hooked. So far, her patterns are clear: She has an affinity for sleeveless dresses and pointed flats, and of course, her ever-present cardigans.

The First Lady's flair for cardigans, while far from conservative, keep her ensembles professional in a playful sort of way. From bold leopard prints to feminine silk ruffles, Michelle's tastes are as widely ranged as her politics.

Cardigan Craving

The cardigan has always been a fall fashion staple - warm enough to keep away a slight chill but not to wave goodbye to what's left of the summer sunlight. We're loving the cardis this fall in particular - sweetly collegiate with a feminine flair. It's a versatile look, ranging from the prim and pretty Chanel touch, as seen in the Estelle Cardigan from Charlotte Tarantola, to the hint of Oxford in the Kensie Cardigan.

And if you think that cardigans are only for the conservative dresser, consider the fun new styles like Wheels and Dollbaby's Leopard Cardigan or their sultry French Lace Cardigan.

Chanel on the Brain

In light the stunning styles of their recent spring/summer RTW, we've still got Chanel on our minds - which is why we love these new cardigans from vintage-inspired brand Wheels & Dollbaby.

Wheels & Dollbaby has channeled that signature Chanel style in their Rue Cambon cardis, capturing the clean lines and classic colour scheme favoured by the famous French style maven.

The cardigans are a pairing of of black and white opposites offset with stamped gold buttons for added elegance. Sharply contrasting and slightly collegiate, we know these beauties will be drawing envious looks to last a season.

Cardis Keep You Covered

Long Cardigans at Lela Rose, Alexander Wang, and Michael Kors.

Cardigans can be the perfect transitional piece in the months to come. In quite a few climes, fall is in full swing and the right cardi can keep you warm and then last well into the warmer days of spring.

Stay on trend for three straight seasons with a long cardigan over your mini dress or a blouse and skirt combo (a la Lela Rose) - skinny belt optional. Or use your cardigan to play with textures, as Alexander Wang does. We wouldn't recommend the strictly runway look of the bottomless Michael Kors cardi, but the long cut can still be flattering with a cute pair of shorties or leggings.
