Celebrity Style: Jennifer Aniston in Hudson

"I wish I had invented blue jeans. They have expression, modesty, sex appeal, simplicity- all I hope for in my clothes." -Yves Saint Laurent

How true- there's nothing quite like the blue jean. These cute and form flattering Hudson jeans spotted on Jennifer Aniston are the perfect example of the fine tailoring that goes into each pair of hand crafted Hudson jeans. With both modern and classic styles, Aniston isn't the only celeb to fall in love with the quality of Hudson denim. We've seen Mischa Barton, Carmen Electra, and Jessica Alba all sporting fresh looks from Hudson.

Blue Sky Ahead

One of the first pieces I bought from UbranMinx was a coral tube top from Sky that I still adore to this day. The goddess like pieces from the LA company are a must for every girl.
Sky has always been fashion forward with their eye catching, exotic embellishments. Sky tops and dresses have been seen on celebrities in over twenty-five movies and television shows and it's hard not to feel like a celebrity when wearing anything from Sky. The snug fit and long flowing fabric had me instantly.
Feeling like your wardrobe could use a little something from Sky? Check out these celestial tones to create that starry look. Tell us your Sky experiences!!

Pick of the Week!

The high-waisted pencil skirt has been on my radar lately, probably for it's form fitting elegance and feminine sophistication. With fun flats or tall boots, the high waisted skirt works for almost every season. What do you pair yours with? A flowing blouse, simple tank, or tailored blazer?
The Kendra Skirt in Blue from BB Dakota is a favorite of mine, complete with trim cotton tiers and a slim fit. The unique shade of blue is great paired with any neutral top or even a print. Perfect for work or play!

Year of the Tiger

China will be celebrating their New Year on friday the fourteenth of this month (that's Valentine's Day to all you lovebirds) and it's the year of the tiger!

The tradition in China is for the families to thoroughly cleanse the house to sweep away any ill-fortune in hopes to make way for good incoming luck. Windows and doors will be decorated with red colour paper-cuts and couplets with popular themes of “happiness”, “wealth”, and “longevity”. Then family will end the night with firecrackers.

We can't supply the fireworks, but here's your chance to cleanse your closet and cast off those dreary winter styles. Celebrate your inner tiger and shop these fierce fashions at UrbanMinx!

What to Wear: Party Like a Rockstar

We're seeing a lot of edgy looks on the runway this winter -exposed zippers, studs, bondage boots, and black leather have all been making an appearance.

While the look can find its roots in the punk rock movement of the eighties, you don't need to be an angst-ridden teenager to rock this style.

The updated rock look has more than an ounce of class with a feminine facet now in consideration. The studs in this Bailey 44 'Whip It Good' Tank are a good way to work edge in without being over the top. A set of Zipper Leggings underneath will make for a slim silhouette. Top them with the luxe Motorcycle Jacket from Juicy Couture and you're ready to roll.

This look is all about being bold, so don't be afraid to throw in a flash of colour like this Juicy Couture Patent Hobo and a set of femme fatale earings like these Jet Chandeliers. Shoes should be sassy but understated like a pair of peep toes with noticeable hardware.

Runway to Reality: Walking the Edge

I just love this look from the Twenty8Twelve runway - you're getting the best of both worlds with a definitive feminine feel in the bloused sleeves and skinny fit denim, with just a hint of the masculine with the vest and collared shirt combo. The ankle booties are just pure attitude.

You can get this edgy ensemble for a seriously slashed price point by shopping the Bailey 44 Android Vest (that leather paneling on the sides is so femme fatale) paired with their Robespierre Shirt and Diesel's Nevy Skinny. Cap it off with Juicy Couture's Palettes Baret in Black.

Getting a Leg Up

The bad rep attached to leggings most likely comes from those who have misused the trend. We've all seen leggings paired with too-short tops and the assumption that leggings are an acceptable replacement for pants.

While leggings are a chic, sleek alternative to leg coverage, they have to be worn right. Conducting a simple test will tell you if you've taken the trend too far: Assemble your ensemble (leggings included) and stand in front of the mirror. Okay, now take those leggings off and look again. Feeling exposed? If that's the case you're going to need a little more coverage.

For best results, stick with sweaters and tunics no shorter than a mini skirt might stretch. Alternatively, a too-long cover might curb the length of your legs unattractively.

The last thing to remember is have fun with it - you've got an endless selection of every style, shade, and texture imaginable lining up the legging market. Whenever given the option, go bold.

Summer Styles Made Fall Friendly

While it's true that the weather is cooling down with the autumn months, that doesn't mean you'll have to surrender your favorite summer staples just yet. UrbanMinx has selected a handful of the top summer items that can keep you chic well into fall.

The Maxi- The maxi is the perfect warm weather piece, but because of its length, it's also easy to work into an autumn weather wardrobe. Switch out your sandals for an earthy looking boot like Old Gringo's Leopardito. You'll want to compliment the length of the dress with a long cardigan, and then balance out your body with a wide belt.

White Denim- This summer proved to be white hot, at least in the denim department. But this selfsame shade can also turn cool for the fall. Instead of matching it with summer brights, try darker shades of blue, gray, and black. Ditch the flip flops and instead opt for a sleek looking ankle booty.

Short Sleeved Styles- Count layering as your closest friend in this situation. Hardly limited to coats, you can really have fun when you layer your short sleeved styles with patterned undershirts like Splendid's Stripe Pullover or Pete's Henley Button Tee. For slightly more coverage, a cropped coat will do the job without overheating you.

Metallics- Metallics were the hot ticket last season, but its garish shine will have to be toned down as time goes on. Look to more muted metals, and only to accessorize, unless you've got brass enough to wear those outrageously gold leggings.

Jumpers-
Much like the maxi, jumpers are easily suited to every season. For shorter styles, try an oversized sweater or vintage looking jacket and pair it with ankle boots and tights for a cute boho style. Longer jumpers look slightly more elegant, and a medium length cover-up will keep you balanced and warm. A belt is optional, since the waist is more defined than would be in a maxi, but it could be just the thing to complete your look.

Staff Pick: Hook, Line, and Sinker

This week's selection is a representation of all that's to love about this summer's nautical trend! The Twisted Heart Anchor Hoodie is a mid-weight hoodie that's great for keeping you from those harmful summer rays without suffocating your skin. A smattering of rhinestone anchor details throughout and braided rope cinches hint further at the high seas theme, without actually making you look like you're about to set sail.

UrbanMinx sales associate Cassie loves the Anchor Hoodie because it's the very image of on-the-go chic. Throw on this hoodie on the way out the door and you've instantly upgraded your look!

Fall in Love with Layers

Many of us have felt the familiar but frustrating experience of having a seemingly full closet but absolutely nothing to wear.

Ring a bell? Then you're probably due for a full fashion update. But instead of rushing to the mall and dropping a pretty price on an entirely new wardrobe, why not see how your old gear stacks up - literally, with layering.

Fall is the perfect time to experiment with the endless options that layering your favorite basics and personality pieces can offer. The warm weather is starting to wane, and a fresh palette of rich hues are hitting the streets.

Feeling a bit bare when it comes to basics? Shop Michael Stars at UrbanMinx for all the primary pieces to serve as your wardrobe cornerstones.
