Denim Button Down

Denim is making a comeback on more than jeans. The versatility of the denim button down is making it a classic must have.

Denim can be worn together if the pieces are in contrasting washes. Bonus for breaking up the outfit with a belt.

If denim on denim makes you uneasy, pair with a pant in black, white, or brown.

I'm personally loving the top being worn as a blazer over a girlie dress. It bring just the right about of toughness to a cutesier outfit.

A Fresh Look: True Religion

True Religion's Spring/Summer 2011 ad campaign has arrived, and thanks to Denimology I don't have to wait to leaf through a magazine to discover their fresh look for a much anticipated spring.

We have been getting in some great True Religion recently, some classics and some cool new pieces. For the true True Religion fan there is the Puff Print V Neck Tee with classic logo on the back.

New western style shirts from True Religion in denim, white, black and flannel plaids are staples for any lady with cowgirl tendencies.

But ultimately what we love about the brand is the jeans. Classic, flattering, comfortable with luxurious details they are hard not to love.

Check out the Casey Legging Jean, the Mother of Pearl Billy Jeans or any of the other amazing denim.

Celebrity Style : Nicole Richie

We are absolutely in love with the new Hudson Jeans Kasidy Flip Pocket Jean Jacket! Such a cute cut and the pocket detail is the classic Hudson back pocket flap. Nicole Richie wears it here with great style with black tights and floral print skirt.

Pair it with the Linea Pelle Dylan Medium Tote Bag in Black like Nicole did for a classic chic look.

NY Fashion Week : G-Star

G-Star is one of our most beloved brands and we love when they put on a show because it is always a good one. Amazing silhouettes and great details, they showed how they are at the forefront of modern denim design. I adore the fact that their details and design are always with functionality in mind and make the clothes more wearable.

As Alison Baenen wrote in her review for style.com:

"Functionality was key, with several pieces of outerwear equipped with straps and cords that did this or that. One lucky model's backpack came equipped with a flask, and there was a clever denim jacket with a built-in windbreaker. Despite their somewhat subdued presentation, though, the clothes were the same saucy spin of classic American sportswear that fans expect."

Get the Skinny on Skinny Jeans

Skinny Jeans have made a resurgence since their debut in the 1950's and now they are all the rage! Their slim fit, comfortable waist lines and versatility for both genders makes them a must have staple in anyone's closet.

Skinny Jeans come in a variety of styles in an of themselves, including colored, cropped and distressed. Colored skinny jeans are great for that youthful, edgy scenester look and can be paired with almost any T-shirt. Try this combo: Carmella Ankle Jean in Andes from Juicy Couture with Neon Nerds Tee in Black Wash by Junk Food.

If you're looking to slenderize and elongate your legs then cropped is your best best and we recommend either Cuffed Penelope Jean in Hilden by Juicy Couture or Socialite Kicker in Black by Joe's Jeans.

Distressed jeans are perfect for adding a little edge to your outfit without making you look too harsh. Regent Ripped Skinny in Collin by Hudson Jeans are the perfect representative for distressed skinny jeans and would look great paired with a more structured or refine top to balance the outfit out.

Denim: Dressed to Distress

Denim is a classic fashion staple that will never go away, but how can you recreate a classic to keep it from becoming old hat? Simple-- you don't recreate it you destroy it! Distressed denim is all the rage and adds a tough vibe to any cute or classy ensemble.

If you're really trying to play up the laid back look with distressed jeans then we suggest wearing the Laid Back Boyfriend Jean in Meteor by Rich and Skinny with a fitted tee or a slouchy sweater to get the full casual effect.

Want a more sophisticated look without looking stuffy? Josefina Crop in Vintage Port Lions by 7 For All Mankind looks great when paired with some killer pumps, white blouse and a cute cardigan.

Celebrity Style: Katie Holmes Wears the Pants

I am absolutely in love with men's style oxfords for women right now.  I can't wait to wear a pair this fall with some rolled jeans, a la Katie Holmes.  My favorite pair right now is the Nicole Kindle Oxford Shoe in Grey (also available in Black and Dark Brown).  At only $99 it's an amazing deal too!
Wear the Rich and Skinny Laid Back Boyfriend Jean for a cool rolled jean with the added touch of distressing.
Top it off with the Kensie Big Gingham Shirt that has a beautiful feminine fit and grab a belt with a nice wide strap like the Tobacco Road Lombardi Belt in Brown.

Green is the New Black: Welcome Del Forte Denim

With Earth Hour having come and gone, I'm left thinking about how environmentally conscious we've become in this day and age. Eco-Friendly is now 'de rigueur' and images of Hollywood fashionistas wearing hemp skirts and soy tees while putting gas in their hybrids have bombarded the airwaves, internet, and fashion magazines. It wasn't too long ago that the word “hemp” brought images of Dazed and Confused to mind and the word “soy” was something vegetarians tried to get creative with. Now these words are synonymous with chic style, as are with burlap, organic cotton, and bamboo. In my opinion, we are the better for it. Feeling good about humanity and yourself when purchasing eco-friendly apparel is two-fold: You are helping the environment and also promoting safe and fair labor practices in the manufacturing of the clothes. It's a win-win situation in theory, but are the clothes really "wearable"? Isn't burlap a sack? How do you wear these materials elegantly? Fashion designers are nothing if not innovative and creative, and if you judge by the latest organically-made styles that have graced the catwalk over the last few years, they are only getting better at making green beautiful.

This inventiveness is apparent in clothing companies like Del Forte Denim where the jeans are a mix of 99% Organic Cotton and 1% Spandex, giving their environmentally conscious jeans an extra soft stretchy feel. These jeans look and feel like traditional cotton, they fit any body type, and the cut is versatile enough to wear with that pair of organic micro-fiber heels you've had your eye on. The fabric features the contrasting stitching on the back pockets that expertly enhances and flatters the derriere as only a well-made pair of designer jeans can do.

At UrbanMinx, we think the Green fashion trend is here to stay and is no longer relegated to the small neighborhood clothing store. The once-struggling designers with dreams of making the world a better place one organically-made t-shirt at a time have found themselves at the front of the line, on the cutting edge of a brave new world of eco-friendly apparel.

Check out UrbanMinx’s newest denim line, the organic Del Forte Denim. This popular eco line has been featured in People’s Style Watch and Nylon magazine.
