Inspiration: The Chain Gang

We've received some beautiful pieces lately from MM Couture by Miss Me and Sky, both with lovely chain detailing. When I came across images from Armor Jewelry I noted a distinct similarity between the designs. Designer Sandee Shin sells Armor Jewelry out of New York and pieces retail from $80-$460. MM Couture's Chain Back Top in Black retails at just $84! A great way to have expensive New York style at a fraction of the cost. Shop MM Couture by Miss Me and Sky at urbanminx.com!

Best Under $100 : White Dresses vs Black Dresses

Each and every summer I find myself so elated with the change in weather and so tired of jeans I hunt down as many summer dresses as I can. As we all know, dresses can be expensive, so I've put together just a few that are under $100.

One of the biggest trends this summer is the white dress. There are some fun ruffled versions like Miss Me's Ruffle Front Dress in White , as well as sweet eyelet cotton dresses from BB Dakota and Double Zero.

The classic little black dress is also such an essential wardrobe piece. Great for any occasion and always flattering, find the black dress that best suits you and you'll end up wearing it again and again.

Looking for a bit of interest in your little black dress? Check out the subtle addition of sequins to Miss Me's Sequin Shoulder Dress or a fun tuxedo ruffle bust like Double Zero's Ruffle T-Back Dress.

Feeling like you need more than black or than white? Miss Me's Modern Print Dress is interesting and chic with a graphic, architectural design and Double Zero's fun Asymetrical Dot Dress plays up a fun print with a hot summer trend, one shoulder asymmetry.

Staff Pick: Faux Fur Fix

This week's pick was a hands-down for Medford UrbanMinx store manager Lindsey, who is in serious love with our new Belted Fur Jacket from Miss Me. Lindsey loves that the piece is fauna-friendly (eco-couture is always en vogue!) and that it's a multi-occasion piece. Picture it by day with a a white top and dark denim and then by night - ballroom anyone?

Also, while the Belted Fur Jacket is far from bulky, that sweet cinching bow will give your waist the definition so often lost when it comes to winter wear.

Learning your lines: How to Wear Stripes

When paired with the right pieces, stripes can really enhance your figure and keep you looking up-to-date. We’ve compiled a few tips to follow so that you too can wear this flattering and fun summer trend.

  • The best road to take is to wear just one striped piece matched with a solid. For example, a vertically striped blouse like Ben Sherman's Westminster Top or a layer like the Bailey 44 Bus Vest looks great with white trousers or jeans.
  • Vertically striped skirts of pants like the Georgie Cocktail Trouser make you look trim and tall when worn with a solid tee.
  • For dresses, avoid horizontal stripes that widen your shape - unless you have a boyish figure and need to create some curves like in this Bailey 44 Stripe Daddy Dress, which enhances and elongates the frame with both horizontal and vertical stripes.
  • If you simply can’t part with that horizontal style despite the presence of curves, either choose something draped like the Ella Moss Aggy Tank, or try the 1-size-up rule to minimize clinging and curb that widening effect.
  • Ultra thin stripes like the ones in this White Stripe Tank from Splendid should only be worn by ultra thin women. Curvier gals should stick to wider stripes, and in darker shades too, to minimize their shape.
On the runways this season, designers were mixing wide and thin stripes or combining stripes with other patterns for a modern look. This bold combination can be found in Miss Me’s Striped Sailor Hoodie and their matching Striped Sailor Short.

Frill Thrill

Girls will fall head-over-heels for the romance of this spring’s ruffle trend. More commonly seen on ultra-feminine frocks like the Miss Me Empire Waist Chiffon Dress or the sugary Flame and Flower Dress by Bailey 44, the look is ultimately versatile and can be styled to suit every personality.

An edgier look has been captured in the Bailey 44's Stolen Bride Dress as well as Juicy Couture's Ruffled Silk Chiffon Dress, the dark shades enhanced by the bold texture that the ruffles provide. And Stop Staring! gets positively saucy with their Bonita Dress.

Ruffles can be casual too. Combine something sweet and simple like the Pete Chloe Ruffle Top or [RYU:]'s Floral Shoulder Strap Top with your favorite pair of skinnies and the perfect peep-toe pump and you're set to jet.

Whether you wear them outrageously oversized or soft and subtle, ruffles will add a flouncy feminine touch to your look this season.
