Flatforms

As seen on numerous designer runways, the "flatform" is the latest in cool, chick footwear, for those spring ready feet!

As the name suggests, the "flatform" is a hybrid of the 'faithful' flat & 'playful' platform. You may even find some styles have a wee wedge (for those of you not quite ready to take the plunge!).

For a sophisticated look, try pairing these shoes with wide leg pant & a blazer, shorts & a billow blouse, a floaty dress or full midi skirts.

Check out our fabulous selection from NICOLE at UrbanMinx.com.

Prints and Texture

Prints and texture are hitting the runway big this season. And who better captures this trend than Hale Bob? They always bring a new array of patterns and colors that will guarantee you to stand out above the masses.

I'm loving the Corey Burnout V Neck in Grey. The basic color of the dress is unexpectedly transformed by the alternating textures in the material.

The bold colors of the South of the Border Dress in Multi is also right on point for spring. You are guaranteed to stand out in this dress, in a very good way.

I'm loving their oxfords which are making their way into every fashionista's wardrobe this spring. Their sandals, booties, and wedges are so light you can easily wear them all day. Get This Casual 70's Look.

This 70's inspired look is right on trend for spring. I love how she's able to achieve the nostalgic feel of the era without looking like to going to a casting call for That 70's Show. This layered back outfit is easy to achieve. Try wide leg jeans with a basic loose fitting tee and accessories with a studded belt and patterned scarf.

Color Blocking

I've always loved bright colors, but some times can feel out of place in them while everyone else is dressed in camel. Fortunately for me, the spring runways were flooded by electric colors with Orange, Pink, Yellow, and Blue dominating the trend.

Above, from left: Peter Som, Karen Walker, Christopher Kane, Rachel Roy.

Above, from left: Jil Sander, Proenza Schouler, Prabal Gurung, Z Spoke.

The trend can be extremely bold by combining contrasting colors or you can chose a more subtle option by pairing pieces in the same shade (try Pink and Orange or Blue and teal).

If you're fearing this extreme combination try pairing a bright piece with a staple color like navy or neutral or by accessorizing with a bright purse, belt or heals.

Runway Revolution

We're all familiar with the heavy-set military trends that hit the runway once the winter months come, but it's a rare thing when the style takes on a summer look with any success.

Yet Bailey 44, a brand known and celebrated for their application of avant-garde themes to every fresh collection, has managed the look with the innovative grace that every Bailey 44 fan has come to expect.

Centered around a romantic take on the French Revolution, Bailey 44's newest spring/summer collection is saturated with military touches that feature complex cuts to add a modern twist. Ruffles are also a major detail, tucked in to add a feminine touch to the bellicose buttons and artfully exposed zippers.

New Bailey 44 items are arriving at UrbanMinx every week, so check back often to get your fashion fix!

Painter's Pride

Any true fashionista will tell you that fashion is an undeniable art, but spring runways are taking the concept a step further with their new palette of watercolor prints.

The most prominent aspect of the trend is found in soft floral prints fit to make Monet proud, yet bold and often abstract pieces have been making their mark too. Never has one theme inspired such a wide and versatile spectrum of styles. Ranging from broad strokes in bright hues, to pale and feathered brushes, this look can be worn by absolutely anyone.
